Daffodils Dreams, a local charity, hosted a fresh and dynamic fashion show at Whelans Bar on the 6th of October, showcasing an array of pre-loved clothing.
The fashion show was organised by the Wigan-based charity Daffodils Dreams, which supports local children and families by providing essential items and positive life experiences to those in need. By highlighting the benefits of buying pre-loved clothing, the charity emphasised the importance of sustainable fashion while fostering a sense of community. The event brought people together to champion this effort and simultaneously supporting local businesses.
The event would not have been possible without contributions from talented Wigan and Leigh College Students showcasing their creations and modelling their designs and beautiful preloved items from the boutique. Furthermore, the support of volunteers, customers and support from Professionals of Wigan, and photography students and Richard Renda and Ella from MCCM productions for capturing the night . It was a night that showed the power of creativity, sustainability and community.
Maureen Holcroft founder of Daffodils Dreams said, ““Our fashion show was a wonderful celebration of creativity, community, and sustainable fashion. It was heartwarming to see the talented students from Wigan & Leigh College not only showcase their incredible creations but also model some of the beautiful pre-loved items from our boutique. The evening was brought to life by the enthusiasm of our volunteers, customers, and friends, and the support from our sponsors and collaborators made it truly unforgettable. Events like these remind us of the power of a community coming together to create something special while supporting a meaningful cause.”
Generous sponsors of the event included Wilmoy Dixon, Greenmount Projects, DPSI Group Ltd, Clarkes Shoes Wigan, Susan Hornby from Sodexo, The Changing Room Standish, Richard Renda and Ella from MCCM Productions, Leisure Tech Distribution, and Sam’s Balloons. With over 300 attendees, the charity successfully raised over £2,100, which, with sponsorships, will total £2,600.
Although this was the first fashion event hosted by the charity, it was seamless and well-executed. Hopefully, this will be the first of many fashion events to help the charity continue its incredible work supporting children and families in the local area.
